Noah Wallace
Noah Wallace is the host of the Devil Gaviel. He is the son of televangelist Matthew Wallace.
Biography
Noah grew up near St. Louis, Missouri. He and his father did not see eye to eye during his teenage years: Matthew dragged Noah into service missions and participation in his church against his will.[1] Noah easily became disillusioned by the hypocrisy of the congregation, and of Matthew himself, especially when he walked on on Matthew having sex with the choir director.[2][3] He was aware that May Carter had a crush on him in high school, and made cruel jokes about her with his friends.[4]
The last time he and Matthew spoke, they argued. Noah called Matthew a con artist and declared himself an atheist before walking out; he'd received a full scholarship to Bowling Green State University, so he no longer depended on his father for money. They did not speak for two years.[5] Still, Noah couldn't quite stop himself from watching Matthew's show, especially when he learned Matthew had incorporated their arguments into sermons and regularly prayed for Noah's salvation.[6] Secretly, Noah admired his father's interpersonal skills, but the resentment between them kept him from admitting it.[7]
Noah was struck by a car while crossing a bridge on his college campus. As he lay dying, he despaired, which permitted Gaviel to possess his body.[8][9] At first, Noah's consciousness was entirely suppressed, but eventually he became able to speak to Gaviel, usually in dreams but sometimes in his subconscious mind.[10] Gaviel gave Noah once last chance to reclaim his body, as a distraction while fighting Usiel, but Noah was too frightened to act, and from then on he lost the ability to influence the demon.[11]
