Nosoi

The Nosoi are a bloodline of clan Gangrel. The Plague Doctors live up to their nickname: they spread disease among the herd, feeding on their favored maladies, and gaslighting their victims into believing only they can help. Unlike the Morbus, whom they resemble to some extent, the Nosoi are just as interested in treatment as infection — to a degree. As walking manifestations of Munchhausen syndrome by proxy, the Nosoi care deeply for their "patients," just as long as the blood bags stay full.

The Plague Doctors tend to avoid the covenants, who fear the bloodline for the blights they bring down on the kine. When they bother with politics, most Nosoi worship the Crone, drawn to her destructive nature.

History

The Nosoi tell numerous legends of their origins. In one, they rose from the corpses of pre-historic plague victims. In another, they were the chosen of Greek gods of disease, ritually infected in strange orgies by the priests. In yet another, they descend from discarded and diseased corpses, and those murdered through deliberate infection, and now seek to balance the scales with those who wronged them.

Bane

The Nosoi suffer the Calamitous Curse. As a Plague Doctor's Humanity falls, she finds it more difficult to take sustenance from blood that hasn't been infected with her favorite disease.

Devotions

The Nosoi use several special Devotions to achieve their sickly goals:

  • Infectious Bite (Protean 4) - The vampire can infect a victim with her preferred disease (as defined by her bane), but this has the side effect of permanently addicting her to blood with that particular illness.
  • Plague Doctor's Mask (Obfuscate 2) - The vampire can disguise the symptoms of any blood-detectable disease, without actually curing or truly alleviating the sickness.
  • Tiny Guardian (Protean 4) - The vampire creates a small insect to keep a watch on her haven or patients. As a prerequisite, the vampire must have the Swarm Form Merit.
