Parangelía Seth

The Parangelía Seth were a sorcerer cult active in Egypt during the Ptolemaic dynasty.

Overview

The Parangelía began as a cult of Set and only later took up sorcery. They claim that Set appeared to them personally after the second Sothic turn, promising them boundless fertility in the face of a severe drought. The cult is made up of a few badly inbred families, most of whom have reddish hair, which they believe signifies Set's blessing.[1] They served the Arisen for generations, but developed veneration cults that deified their patrons. The Arisen, wary of punishment from their Judges, cast the Parangelía from their service.[2]

The Parangelía came into possession of the Prophecies of Isis in 100 BCE, while raiding the tomb of a member of the Reborn Osiris. They interpret the prophecy as a threat to their magic, and possibly their existence, and commit to preventing it from coming to pass.[1] In this they were aided by a few members of the Tef-Aabhi,[2] as well as Shuankhsen lead by Nefersobk.[3] The Parangelía support Octavian against Cleopatra, while also battling other sorcerous cults; by 30 BCE, Cleopatra is dead, as is her son Caesarion, and the Ptolemaic dynasty is extinguished.[2]

After the war, the Parangelía Set changed their name to the Loyalists of the Final Dynasty, possibly as a gloating reference to their defeated rivals.[2] These Loyalists are the forerunners of Last Dynasty International.[3]
