Quest:Daydream Believer

Daydream Believer is a side quest for VTM: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines . The sequence of events and rewards happen regardless of the version of Bloodlines, but it was only made a formal quest tracked in your quest log in the Plus patch.

Acquisition

At the Santa Monica beach, a thin-blood named Copper wants to reverse his vampiric condition.

Overview

Copper starts off with no money, so once discussing his options, you'll need to leave and return, giving you a chance to collect the items.

If you persuade him to live with his condition, you can gain a point of Humanity.

Alternately, if you don't care as much about Copper's future, and want to increase your funds:

  • You can tell him he needs a transfusion of "unicorn blood" and sell him up to three Blood Packs for $120 each.
  • In the Plus patch, you can offer him some special chewing gum (found in the arcade up on the pier) to erode his fangs for $100.
  • You can sell him a Wooden Stake (found among the base of the pilings that hold up the pier) so he can kill the "head vampire" for $100.

Completion

When you return later, be sure the stake is the last thing you offer him. Once he has the stake, he'll ask where to find the head vampire, which will end the dialogue and prevent you from selling him anything else.

  • If you tell him the head vampire is the President, he'll run off, presumably to try to kill the President. This results in a Masquerade violation and a loss of one point of Humanity.
  • If you tell him the head vampire is Sebastian LaCroix, he'll run off to kill LaCroix. When you later arrive in LaCroix's chamber, you'll see the ashy outline of what used to be Copper on the floor near the fireplace.
  • In the Plus patch, if you tell him the head vampire is Nines Rodriguez, presumably Nines succeeds in persuading him to join the Anarch cause. If you pick the Anarch ending, Copper can be found among the Anarchs defending the Chateau Marmont.

Rewards

If you convince Copper to live with his fate:

  • +1 Humanity

If you fleece Copper for his money:

  • $100-$460 ($100-$560 in Plus)
  • 1XP (if you manage to max out at $560)
  • Potentially -1 Humanity (if you send him after the President)
  • Potentially a Masquerade Violation (if you send him after the President)
