Overview

After leaving the Nocturne Theatre, Smiling Jack will provide information about your situation and advice on your abilities and how to use them. You'll have the choice to skip the rest of the tutorial and begin immediately, gain a brief overview of the game lore and begin immediately, or continue with the tutorial. If you opt to skip, you will miss out on a free Lockpick, a Tire Iron, and potentially a Baseball Bat, a Colt Police Positive Special, and 2XP. Aside from the XP, the other items will instead need to be found or purchased later.

Everything is explained fairly clearly and directly, so we will not go into many details. Just follow what Jack instructs you to do.

  • In the garage office, Jack will break in through the window, and ask you to look around for a key. The intended order of events: look at the note pinned to the wall to the left of the computer in order to gain the computer password, use the computer to unlock the safe (either using the password or by hacking), open the safe to retrieve the keycard, and then use the keycard to leave the building.
  • When learning stealth, it's best to sneak far to the right along side the edge of the building, wait by the boxes until after the explosion causes the Sabbat shovelhead to walk in the opposite direction, and then sneak around the corner to the right.
  • In the Plus patch, after entering the warehouse and descending into the basement, you will encounter a security guard. If you convince him to enter the next room, you will lose Humanity.
  • When sneaking past the final Sabbat guard, throw the can of tuna fish to the far right corner to distract him, and then sneak around to your left.
  • When shooting Jack's gun, you may walk forward as far as the ammo crate to your right (which you can use to refill your ammo if needed). The farther forward, the greater your chance of success. You only need to make one successful shot on the bottles before continuing, so don't empty your gun knocking down all the bottles unless you want to. There are more rats here if you want to fill up on blood.
  • In the Plus patch, after killing the gangbangers, if you have a Persuasion of 1 or higher, you may convince Jack to let you keep the gun. Otherwise, he'll take it back.

Background Information

  • In earlier versions, once finished with shooting the bottles, you could move forward towards the blocked door and then back to the ammo crate, which would be refilled with ammo. This could be done as many times as wanted in order to max out your ammo. This exploit has been fixed in both the Basic and Plus versions of the Unofficial Patch.
  • Immediately following this quest, the player is told they have Experience Points and are prompted to spend it. However, the minimum XP needed to buy anything is 3XP, so nothing can be bought at this point in the game.
