Raiden (Scion)

Raiden is the Japanese god of thunder and a member of the Amatsukami.

Overview

The storm god of an island people is appropriately terrifying: Raiden has clawed feet and a positively demonic appearance, and he wields both drums and a mighty bow. Yet Raiden is also remembered as Japan's protector, turning away invasions with devastating storms. When he is not angry — usually due to the judicious application of alcohol — Raiden gives sage advice. He is also notorious for stealing people's belly buttons.

Raiden is a boor and a slob, and he hardly bothers to disguise himself when he walks the World except to hide his more overly supernatural traits. He burps, he farts, he leaves crumbs and sticky residue everywhere; when it comes to women, he leers at those he finds attractive and disdains all the others. He is fascinated by the tamed lightening of the electronics industry, though he's the one who brings drinks into the server room and has crumbs in his keyboard. Raiden loves colleges and universities, where frat boys find him the life of the party, but his particular "charm" tends to wear off when the parties are over and he's still crashing on your couch.

Scions of Raiden tend to inherit both his love of electronics and his appalling manners. They often work as tech support for the Gods, gathering information and identifying weak points in need of defense. In addition, they often have an unexpected intimacy with plant life: the interwoven roots of the forest form the oldest and most powerful communication network in the World.
