Rizzetti Apparatus

The Rizzetti Apparatus is an odd contraption, created by Federico Rizzetti, that bestows immortality upon a subject, at the expense of instilling a hunger for mortal blood.

Overview

Currently in the possession of hematologist Steven Fallow, the Rizzetti Apparatus utilizes a kind of bacteria present in a coral filtering agent that flourishes in a mixture containing human blood. When the device is used, the bacteria enter the body of the subject and flush it of impurities, curing whatever ailments the subject possesses, including the deleterious effects of age. In return, however, the waste must enter the body of a victim whose blood is generously "donated" to the subject. The donor only rarely survives.

The device is not without downsides for the subject, either. The cure only lasts so long before impurities build up again. Additionally, as the bacteria reproduce and further infest the host body, said host begins experiencing blood cravings, as the body cannot keep up with the demands of the bacteria.

Appearance

The machine is a marvel of design, notable for its excellent workmanship in addition to its medical use. It appears similar to a crossbreed of a music box and a set of graduated cylinders and/or test tubes. The apparatus contains delicate bronze gears spinning within stained cherry wood.
