Sava Vaselko

Sava Vaselko was a sea captain who came to believe that he had seen Atlantis in the Bermuda Triangle.

Overview

Captain of the trading vessel Bagrem in the mid-19th century, Vaselko entered the Bermuda Triangle during the American Civil War while attempting to outmaneuver the Union blockade. There, his clocks began to turn backward and lights appeared on the horizon. Eventually, a landmass appeared, with enormous buildings covered in strange sigils. Unfortunately, his ship sank, as though it hit a reef, and Vaselko passed out in the water, waking in a sanitarium.

Vaselko came to believe he had found Atlantis, which, rather than sinking, was trapped in a time bubble. He, through research on the Triangle, thought that that bubble might collapse if the Triangle were fed enough death. To that end, he formed an organization, the Black Tide, to watch for changes to the bubble and, in 1870, filed claims to Atlantis with every nation nearby to where it would appear.

Unfortunately for the captain, he died in 1912 without the bubble bursting.
