Holotype: MBM 179978, collected by Xinzheng Li and Jian-Wen Qiu using the “Jiaolong” submersible” on 7 July 2013.

Type locality: “northeast of the Zhongsha Islands, South China Sea, 117°45.5’ E, 17°36.7’ N, 3683 m depth, muddy substrate”.
