Name

Mussaenda zenkeri Wernham, J. Bot. 51: 276 (1913); as 'M. Zenkeri'

  • Typus: G.A. Zenker 1516 ([1897]; syntypus: K [cf. K000414488(JSTOR), without type indication apart from a determination slip left by H.F. Wernham on 10 June [19]13], WU0078273; isosyntypi: HBG521416, M0106420) et G.A. Zenker & A. Staudt 422 (syntypus).
    • Note: syntype seems to be also deposited in BM judging from the type-protologue.
  • Type locality:
    • 1516: Cameroon. Yaunde, 2600 ft.

Note:

Bridson & Verdcourt (1988: 463) stated that Mussaenda zenkeri is very close to M. elegans Schumach. & Thonn. and Figueiredo (2007) places the former taxon tentatively as a distinct species, but considering it a possible synonym of the latter.
