Some authorities consider this genus to be a synonym of Pseudopanax, however, Plunkett (et al.), (2004) proposed resurrecting it, whereas Perrie, L.R. & Shepherd, L.D. (2009) disagree, both studies used molecular evidence. See POWO (2024) cf. Tropicos (2024)
