Type locality: Albatross R/V station 2226, 10 Sep 1884, North Atlantic Ocean, U.S.A., east of Virginia, 37°00′N 71°54′W / 37°N 71.9°W / 37; -71.9, depth 3740 m.

Holotype: USNM 8140 .
