Holotype: QM G323175, collected by CSIRO ‘Southern Surveyor’ cruise SS0404 on 26 April 2004.
Type locality: “Big Horseshoe Canyon (West Bank), Bass Canyon system, Tasman Sea, Australia, -38.1148 S, 149.3565 E, depth 159.6 m”.
