Thraustochytrium

The genus Thraustochytrium includes 15 species, which differ from each other by the absence or presence of one or several proliferation bodies and the mode of discharge of fully motile or quiescent zoospores from the ‘parent’ cell (by either partial or complete disintegration of the sporangial wall) (Dick, 2001).
