Etymology
Uncertain, although it can be tentatively compared to Old Burmese ရုယ် (ruy), the ancient form of ရွေ့ (rwe., “to move; and, while, because”). Also note similarity with Old Chinese 由 (OC *lɯw, “from, by, due to, reason”).
