Borrowed from Ancient Greek Ἁθύρ (Hathúr), from Egyptian ḥwt-ḥr. Compare Coptic Ϩⲁⲑⲱⲣ (Hathōr).

  1. The third month of the later ancient Egyptian civil calendar and Coptic calendar, corresponding to the third month of the season of Akhet. Since 25 BCE, when the calendar was reformed to include leap-days, Hathyr has been in roughly November.
