Etymology
From a reduplicated present *h₁í-h₁eyǵʰ-ti from Proto-Indo-European *h₁eyǵʰ-.[1][2] Distantly related to Ancient Greek ἰχανάω (ikhanáō, “to desire”) and Sanskrit ईहति (īhati, “to desire”).
