Reconstruction notes
The Proto-Indo-European root from which this term descends may have given rise to two verbs: *kelh₁-ti and *klh₁-enti, from which arose *kelati and *kalenti respectively. The Latin first conjugation verb derives from *kelati and the Umbrian verb derives from *kalenti.
