Vleut
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as die vloet in 1463. Derived from a variant of dialectal vloet (“low-lying pasture next to a watercourse which floods regularly”). A derivation from vloot (“shallow tub”) (here referring to a depression in the landscape) is considered less likely. Compare Vloeieind and Vloet.
