Possibly from ita + *-mu (cf. kamu/kayu), with omission of the initial ka-. Compare Tagalog tayo (ta + -yo), Ilocano datayo (data + -yo), Pangasinan sikatayo (sikata + yo), and Tausug taniyu (ta + niyu).
