Borrowed from Javanese wreda, wredha (ꦮꦽꦢ,ꦮꦽꦣ, “old”), from Old Javanese wṛddha, wrĕdah (“full-grown, experienced, wise”), from Sanskrit वृद्ध (vṛddha, “old”). Doublet of berida.
