Tagged on buildings along with building=house to be more specific about the type of house.
This is preferred by some mappers over modifying the building=* value itself.
As of December 2020, over 85% of uses of this tag are in Ireland. In most countries it is much more common to use specific tags such as building=detached, building=semidetached_house, building=bungalow, etc.
How to map
Add an area with building=house and then add a =* value.
For houses that share a wall, such as a semi-detached house, the building should be mapped as separate areas for each house and they should share at least 2 nodes where they connect. (Sometimes known as a "party wall")
Values
Possible tagging mistakes
Be careful not to mix =terraced and =terrace up.
=terraced is for mapping the separate houses in a terrace, and =terrace is for if you map the whole terrace as one building.
This is discouraged however, as mapping the individual houses in a terrace is preferred.
