zone:traffic= is used to indicate roads in Germany which are not motorways and are inside the built-up area (innerhalb geschlossener Ortschaften).

Default speed limit

In most cases, roads with zone:traffic= have the following default speed limits:

  • maxspeed=50
  • maxspeed:bicycle=none
  • maxspeed:foot=none

However, there are some exceptions for roads for motor vehicles (Kraftfahrstraßen) that are dual-carriageway.
