Events

  • An unsigned diary arrives in the offices of the French Republic in Paris. It told in detail about the manipulation and planting of evidence that had sent over a hundred men and women to the guillotine during the Terror. Investigation showed there were details in the diary that could only have been known to the victims and the Revolutionary Tribunal. [1]
  • The National Constituent Assembly ratifies the Constitution of 1791, which abolishes feudalism and tithing. Louis XVI attempts to flee France, and is placed under house arrest upon his return to Paris. The Legislative Assembly is convened to implement the Constitution.[2]
  • The Meat Market in New Orleans is officially renamed the French Market.[3]
