  • A fur trapping party lead by Ewing Young murders several Native residents of Oregon Territory. This incident incites the Rogue River Wars between United States Army and the Athabascan, Shasta, Tututni, and Takelman nations.[1]
  • The Spanish Inquisition is officially disbanded.[2]

March

  • March 28 - March 30: Five priests of the Malleus Maleficarum purge the leadership of the Conspiracy in mainland Europe. The purge was sanctioned by Pope Gregory XVI and claimed nine high-ranking victims, among them the bishop of Badajoz, the Mother Superior of an influential covenant in Rome and a Cardinal. The only evidence of what might have happened is a box in the Shadow Congregation’s archives containing nine Bibles, bound in human skin, and nine notched knives.[3]
