- Jack Bleak of Extraordinary Times Magazine travels to Point Pleasant to investigate the legend of the Moth Man. Following his investigation, Bleak encountered several unusual instances. He received a call in the middle of the night, which was a recording of a phone call he had had with his editor 12 hours earlier. The next day, his cell phone rang, and he listened in on a conversation two men were having about him, providing all sorts of details about his life, but using vague references or euphemisms such as "the process," "weak space" and "seven kingdoms." After leaving for three weeks on a story, he returns to find that someone has been living his life for him — retrieving mail, visiting friends, having dinner with his mother.[1]

- The plane of Juvénal Habyarimana, president of Rwanda, is shot down. Nearly immediatly afterwards, the Rwandan genocide begins as the Hutu persecute the Tutsi. The massacres last for 100 days, during which time an estimated 800,000 (possibly as many as a million) people were murdered. [2]
