Brodir

For the real-world historical individual, see Brodir and Ospak of Man.

Brodir the Wronged was a Manx mercenary-turned-draugr active following the Battle of Clontarf in 1014, during which he fought against his brother Óspak.[1]

Overview

Disemboweled and pinned to a tree on the battlefield of Clontarf by his brother's subordinate, Wolf the Quarrelsome[2], Brodir's soul became trapped on that battlefield, which from then on acted as his hunting ground. He would bait victims into positions where he would have the advantage, kill them, and use their blood to water the tree around which his entrails were wrapped.[3]

His haunting could only be stopped by the death or punishment of Óspak and Wolf, and by the destruction of the tree upon which he died.[3]
