Khonsu

Khonsu is an Obrimos mage in the Ophidian Logic cabal. He works as Censor for the Mysterium in the Milwaukee Athanaeum, but operates across a number of Consilia, including Boston and Chicago.

Ophidian Logic

Khonsu's cabal was centred around Kendall Hart, a fringe pulp writer who inexplicably and unconsciously includes secret arcane lore in his books[1]. As far as the Ophidian Logic were aware, Kendall was a normal Sleeper and was totally unaware that he was occasionally tapping into some universal truths in his writing. The Ophidian Logic worked hard to supress Hart's books while ensuring he continued to write them, unaware that his readership consisted solely of five mages.

"Crowley’s Bathroom describes the Temple of Chthonic Emanations perfectly, and better than some rather aged Mysterium records. We only dug up the Room of the White Well after he mentioned it in a sidebar. Martians Ate My Brain includes about half the instructions you need to activate the Viridian Astra. Five copies of that got loose once, and that earned us a violent little trip to Mumbai. I’d have loved to have been in his head when he wrote Dark Musings. He sandwiched in a description of an Imperial spell between bits on Islamic superheroes and brains in a vat. That was a major coup for Ophid- ian Logic."

Unfortunately for Kendall Hart, he became a person of interest to both the Cult of the Red Word and the Game of Geometric Perfection. Khonsu's cabal battled the former, slaying many of them, but at the cost of the lives of his cabal mates and two of his own fingers. He first worked with the latter - a Libertine cabal that sought mysteries within American Baseball - but once the cultist cannibals were dealt with, the Libertines sought to kidnap Kendall Hart so they could liberate the knowledge he produced and share it with other mages, rather than hiding it in Athanae like the Mysterium. This led to a standoff which only ended when Khonsu killed Kendall, preferring that his priceless occult knowledge die with him rather than fall into the wrong hands.

The Unmurdered Man

Following the loss of his cabal, Khonsu fell afoul of a Reaper in Salem who stole his soul[2]. He was eventually given a new one by the Nemean, who claimed to be working for higher powers. Khonsu once again clashed with the Game of Geometric Perfection, who were working with one of the original Libertines that formed the Free Council after the Great Refusal known as Xaphan. This Libertine archmaster sought to use Khonsu to extend his life so that he could once again resume leadership of the Free Council and continue the war against the Seers of the Throne. Khonsu was saved by the Nemean, who revealed that he was working for one or more Entetes of the Pax Arcana who would not permit one of their own to meddle with reality to such an extent.
