Lidérc
The Lidérc are a bloodline of clan Daeva. A lineage of psychic vampires, the Beloved feed off their victims' will in exchange for gifts of power, wealth, and love. Deceivers and serial monogamists, Lidérc maintain huge followings of devout victims, whittling away their resolve and turning it into Vitae by provoking emotional responses. Some pretend to be their victims' unrequited or dead lovers, while others tempt them with physical augmentation, or at least an impassioned high. However, few Lidérc are insincere: To truly squeeze their lovers dry, they must also truly love them.
The Beloved are, politically, a rather cosmopolitan bloodline. Some make compassionate revolution in the Movement, while others conduct horrible, masochistic social experiments in the Ordo Dracul. As long as the Beloved are free to love, lose, and love again (and again, and again), they're content to follow whomever suits their interests best.
History
The Lidérc insist they come from a long line of succubi, all the way back to legends of lilitu in ancient Babylon. However, few Kindred seem to believe this, as the bloodline's name refers to a Hungarian legend about horse manure and chickens, not Levantine demons. More likely, the Lidérc took their name from another, stranger creature of the night, but whether the connection goes deeper is unknown. Another legend, passed among the fae, tells of a lonely man who begged the queen of fairy land to make him whole. When she revealed the truth of his nature — an emotional leech who cared little for the needs of his lovers — he died of happiness, finally understanding. He married the queen that very night, and gave her many heirs. Yet another legend speaks of a farmer, a hen, and a golden egg... as well as the farmer's murderous children.
Bane
Lidérc suffer the Devoted Curse. Like all Serpents, the Beloved sometimes become infatuated with mortal victims, but a Lidérc finds this obsession dulls his connection to the relationships that link him to his Humanity.
Siphon
To drain their victims, the Lidérc use a special group of Devotions they collectively refer to as Siphon. These powers are useful on their own, but a Beloved vampire gains the most utility for using them in tandem.
These powers only work on mortals.
- The Look (Majesty 2) - The ability to turn emotional responses into Vitae. The most fundamental of the bloodline's powers.
- The Give-and-Take (Celerity 3 or Vigor 3) - A mortal gains physical prowess at the cost the Willpower he would normally gain for fulfilling his Vice.
- The One That Got Away (Obfuscate 4) - The vampire can disguise herself as someone her victim was in love with, causing him to gain gratification from making sacrifices for her, and making it easier to provoke his emotions.
- The Pledge (Majesty 2) - The vampire and a mortal make a pledge of eternal love. The mortal gains social cachet among other humans, while the vampire now gains Willpower whenever she exceptionally provokes her lover's emotions. However, the vampire can no longer use other Siphon Devotions on others until the relationship ends.
