Santa Monica Pier

The Santa Monica Pier is an entertainment district and tourist attraction on the coast of Santa Monica, featuring a number of shops, midway attractions, and a roller coaster.

Points of interest include:

  • Psychic Reading by Madam Liotta
  • Playtime Arcade
  • Banana Split
  • Chubby's Taco Shack
  • Rob's Harbor Grill
  • The "Pacific Wheel" Ferris wheel

Beach

From the beach under the Pier, there are stairs up to the Pier, as well as a secondary staircase leading up to the Beach House.

Under the pier is a makeshift fire, around which the Santa Monica thin-bloods gather. In late 2004, this included Rosa, E, Copper, Julius and, once she was freed, Lily. While many of them seem to have departed during the events surrounding the arrival of the Ankaran Sarcophagus, with E, Lily, and Rosa expressing a desire to leave, the area remained a haven for their kind. During 2005, the group included the newly-Embraced Acacia. The area (or at least the thin-bloods there) were under the protection of Smiling Jack's childe Jenna Cross.

Quests

Background Information

  • From the beach, looking up the stairs to the pier, players can see Beckett in wolf form directly ahead. Once you start climbing the stairs, he'll run away. He'll only appear the first time you enter the pier area. This is referenced during your first dialog with Beckett, where you can ask "why have you been following me?"
  • In the Plus version of the Unofficial Patch, the restored area outside the Museum of Natural History contains another Madam Liotta storefront, featuring an ironic note that "due to unforeseen circumstances," the Madam Liotta has moved to the Santa Monica Pier.
  • The in-game Ferris wheel says "Pacific Wheel" on the center. While this is the official name of the real-world Ferris wheel in that location, the real wheel's center reads "Pacific Park," the official name of the amusement park area of the Pier.
  • Unlike the Wheel, the "Playtime Arcade" is an obfuscated reference to the real-world "Playland Arcade" found on the Pier.
  • In the approximate in-game location of Rob's Harbor Grill stands Inkie's Harbor Grill in the real world, with a similar "Burgers - Fries - Soda" sign.
  • The song "A Smaller God" by Darling Violetta (track 9 on VTM: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines Soundtrack ) plays on the thin-bloods' radio. In the base game, the Santa Monica Theme (track 5 on VTM: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines Score ) plays in this area. In the Plus version of the Unofficial Patch, this is changed to "Festival" (track 3 on VTM: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines: More Music from the Vault ).
