Temple of Golden Virtue

The Temple of Golden Virtue, or simply the Golden Temple, is the haven of Ming Xiao, the leader of the Chinatown's Kuei-jin.

Golden Temple

Overview

Located at the heart of Los Angeles, the Golden Temple was in Chinatown long before the Kuei-jin arrived, mostly abandoned. In the early 2000s, Ming Xiao arrived in the city and restored it as part of her effort to claim the territory as her own, but she would rarely if ever allow anyone into it, claiming the place was too holy.

During the events surrounding the Ankaran Sarcophagus in October 2004, she encountered a fledgling in the service of Prince LaCroix. This fledgling later returned to the Temple, descending to Ming Xiao's own private chambers, and destroyed her.[1]

Shortly thereafter, the Temple itself was destroyed, which was widely reported as a domestic terror attack.[2]

Background Information

  • Gary Golden, the Nosferatu, describes the Temple as a "piss poor copy of the real thing". Gary's possibly referring to the Jin Dian Golden Temple in China's Yunnan Province, which has a similar appearance.
  • Although most sources in-game refer to it simply as the Golden Temple, the Santa Monica Cathayan's laptop and dialogue with Wong Ho spell out the full name: the Temple of Golden Virtue.
  • The Golden Temple is probably a stand-in for the Thien Hau Temple in the real Chinatown, although the two structures don't bear many physical similarities.
  • "Dark Asia" (Track 15 on the VTM: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines Score and "Dark Asia Combat" (not currently on any official album) play throughout the Golden Temple.
