| — Trip to the fledgling | ||
Trip is the owner of Trip's Pawn Shop in Santa Monica. As his name indicates, he's a bit of a stoner.
Personality & Appearance
Trip is very world-weary and dispirited, someone who believes that "Santa Monica is dead." His bruised eyes and almost slurred way of speaking implies he gets very little sleep, most likely due to him working nights. Trip is extremely paranoid, to the point where the fledgling must cajole him into selling weapons.

Background Information
- If you wait until later in the game to ask Trip about weapons -- for example, after you make it Downtown -- and then return to Trip, he'll say that he got his weapons license last week but had forgotten all about it, and his makes his weapon selection available.
- Technically Trip sells Light Clothing, but because the PC starts the game with it and it cannot be removed from inventory, it will never appear in Trip's shop.
- Trip is set to provide Stakelauncher ammo after meeting with Gary, and Rocket Launcher ammo after the Cab Driver has taken you to your first location during endgame, but no "stakelauncher" or "rocket launcher" is available in the game. The existence of other leftover files indicate that the items were intended, but removed before final release.
- When asking Trip about selling weapons, he'll warn you to keep quiet: "I can't have every Jesse and Jaime off the street, ya know, comin' in here askin' about this." This is a reference to programmer Jesse Reynolds and level builder Jaime Sue.
