Wave Men

The Wave Men are a motorcycle gang that run in Taitō, a ward of Tokyo.

Overview

Drawn from a variety of right-wing groups across Japan, the Wave Men believe themselves to be the modern day equivalent of ronin. They seek a return to the honorable customs, traditions, and ideals of Japan’s past — something they see as not conflicting in the slightest with their protection rackets and rampant assault on anyone who gets in their way.

The greatest danger the group presents is their appeal to the younger crowd — not by their vision, but by their appearance. They seem cool, with their motorcycles, their bokken, and their violence. This is bolstered further by their occasional “philanthropy” — with all favors to be repaid in full over time, of course.

Aside from their racketeering, the Wave Men maintain themselves through smuggling or hiring themselves out to right-wing groups, lone radicals, or to politicians needing crowds kept in line.
