Type locality: USA, Washington, Klickitat Co., Yakima Indian Reserve.

Typus: Holotype male ♂ CNC. 7-VII-1961. Paratypes males and females.

Choristoneura occidentalis Freeman, 1967: 451. (See Brunet, et al. 2016: 9–11 rejecting the need for a replacement name [see below] as "we do not consider the evidence provided by Razowski (2008) to be sufficiently substantial to justify a change of this magnitude", yet problematically do not specify any preferred alternative generic placement for Walsingham's species). [Note: see commentary in Gilligan & Brown, 2014, and here under Archips occidentalis (Walsingham, 1891)
