Name
Ernassa sanguinolenta (Cramer, [1779]): 102 , pl.252
Type locality: Surinam.
Type material: Not found. lost? High probability of type being lost led Travassos (1944) to designate a neotype from Brazil, Para, Obidos in MNRJ. This neotype was destroyed in museum fire of september 2018.
Note: Grados (2024) figured specimen and genitalia of Ernassa sanguinolenta, based on a specimen from Peru, and coherency between these genitalia and the drawings of Travassos. None of them used a specimen from Surinam or French Guiana, the original type locality.
