- Type locality: COSTA RICA: Puntarenas, Pen. Osa, Cerro Rincon, 200 meters S. del hito, 745m el., virgin forest.
- Etymology: The specific name is in reference to the tricolored dark brown body with brown mesoscutum and yellow metasomal terga 2 and 5โ7.
