Jeju
Etymology
Likely from Middle Korean ᄇᆞᆰ다 (polkta, “to be red”) + -앙 (-ang, “sequential suffix”) + ᄒᆞ다〮 (Yale: hota, light verb whence modern ᄒᆞ다 (hawda)). Compare Jeju ᄇᆞᆰ다 (bawkda, “to be bright”). Cognate with Korean 발갛다 (balgata).
