- Edward Brake, director of Bishopsgate Asylum for the Insane, oversees renovations to the institution with the aid of sculptor and architect Frank Teesdale, descendant of James Teesdale. Among the renovations is the construction of a new medical center, the lowest sub-basement of which Brake orders sealed.[1]
