Cephalist

Cephalists, also known as Psychics, are a Clade of Deviants whose Variations come from the power of their wills. For Cephalists, the Divergence opened their minds to new and inhuman possibilities, granting supernatural focus and influence. Many conspiracies seek after Cephalists for their abilities to control others and focus on goals.

Overview

Cephalists exemplify the phrase "mind over matter". They often believe they were able to survive the Divergence with nothing more than their own Willpower. This often gives them an arrogant or superior attitude toward Baselines and even their fellow Remade.

The truth is, however, that Psychics are just as Broken as any other Clade. They may deny or downplay their trauma, but it still exists, and it still prevents them from enjoying a human life. Deep down, every Cephalist knows this, and they know that theirs is a fate they wouldn't wish on anyone else.

Renegades

Conspiracies prize Cephalists, and tend to put great effort into creating or capturing Psychics to use for their own purposes. However, they must also take care that they themselves are not controlled by the Cephalist's powers, and many conspiracies create failsafes to prevent a Cephalist from manipulating his handlers.

Cephalists turn Renegade when they begin to focus their wills on breaking free of conspiracy control. Despite the strict measures taken by conspiracies to contain their Deviants, a Psychic is content to peel back the layers of security a little at a time before making her move.

Renegade Psychics tend not to pursue simple destruction of the conspiracy. Rather, they often make schemes to undermine the conspiracy, turning its actions toward her own goals.

Devoted

Devoted Cephalists are often given prestigious positions within a conspiracy. Cults place their Psychics in the forefront in order to draw in a miracle-seeking audience. Many Cephalists buy into the legend, believing themselves to be the center of the conspiracy's power. In reality, though, the conspiracy views the Psychic as nothing more than a tool to control and manipulate their opponents.

Traits

Cephalists tend to favor Social Attributes, reflecting their prowess in influencing others. They also tend to have Mental Merits, demonstrating the power of their wills.

Cephalists usually have Scars that affect their minds, or that weaken the body to strengthen the mind.
