Abiding
The Abiding are the Bound whose Burden is dying without a legacy. They died wanting to change the world, and have bargained with death to have a second chance.
Overview
| “ | The world is my epitaph. | ” |
The Abiding left the world too soon; before they could secure what they considered to be a proper legacy for them, and in some cases their family. This could range from never making enough money to thrive, or not leaving the world better than when they came into it, or even something as grandiose as not having their name on a monument. Whatever it may be, the mortal died before they could fulfill this goal.
With the power gained from the Bargain, the Abiding can finally take life by the reins and change course, leaving a trail for everyone to follow along behind them. Death is unforgiving for most, but these Sin-Eaters know they have greatness within, something the world needs to know about or something they need to do to shape the world.
The level of self-awareness held by these Sin-Eaters draws a certain kind of ghost to them, often with similar ideals, understanding what it is like to leave without making a difference.
