Lost Pantheon

The Lost Pantheon is an ancient order composed of changelings who believe themselves to be gods.

Background

Upon my oath, I am become the Old Way; flesh of its flesh and blood of its blood.

In the earliest years of human civilization, there are recorded images of fantastical beasts walking side-by-side with humanity, creatures which were admired, feared, and worshipped. The Lost of this order fulfil that role once more. Those in this order seldom play well with the Courts, though this is usually a matter of uneasy coexistence, rather than outright hostility. Generally, Ancients tend to embody old religious archetypes (e.g. Earth Mother, Sun Father, etc.), though newer examples (Thor, Anubis, Coyote, or even Bloody Mary or the Jersey Devil) may also find their way into the Lost Pantheon.

Organization

Lacking a true organization, each Ancient deals with his fellows as his nature might demand — an ocean god and storm god, for example, considering one another brothers. It is rare for multiple Ancients to stay near one another; where they do, they might form a family of sorts based on the archetypes they embody.

Joining and Membership

Prerequisites: Wyrd 6, Mantle (Any) 4, Clarity no higher than 6
Title: Ancient (also Daemon, Totem, or other such titles, as appropriate to the culture of the individual changeling)

Most often, this entitlement calls to Beasts and Elementals, though any changeling may ultimately find a place here. The commonality between all Ancients is that, rather than fleeing from their humanity, they truly believe themselves to no longer be human. All of them, even the most humble, think themselves gods made flesh.

Mien

The changes to the mien of an Ancient vary from individual to individual, though each Ancient will inevitably become more of what he was (e.g. a Fireheart Elemental becoming a living conflagration). This trend becomes more prominent as Wyrd increases, even warping the Mantle at the highest peaks of Wyrd.

Privileges

  • Primordial Incarnation: The perception-based Clarity penalties that ordinarily follow the Lost are reversed in Ancients, with lower Clarity granting bonuses to such rolls (+1 at Clarity 6-5, +2 at 4-3, and +3 at 2-1); these bonuses also are added to an Ancient's effective Wyrd for the purpose of determining longevity (each dot above ten adding another thirty years to the changeling’s life).

Additionally, a member of this order may distill Glamour from the worship of mortals, provided the mortals are aware of the changeling’s true form. The changeling must be present to reap the harvest, and the Glamour may be harvested as though it were an emotion appropriate to the changeling’s Court.

Finally, Ancients remain staunch enemies of the Others, gaining a +2 bonus to rolls to, in any way, engage in aggression or resistance against the Gentry, their powers, or their minions.
