Office of Vizieral Counsel
The Office of Vizieral Counsel is a politically neutral organization that serves as an aide to the current ruler, particularly as regards to magic.
Background
| “ | My magic for my queen. Nothing else matters. | ” |
Begun by a powerful changeling known as Lailoken, the Office of Vizieral Council is composed of those who, having been drunk on the power of Wyrd, sought a means to stabilize their often shaky grasp on sanity. They accomplished this by binding themselves to the sovereign of a freehold: exchanging their skill and knowledge for Clarity.
Depending on the freehold in question, this job may entail a great deal of administration, with the Vizier acting as a proxy for the sovereign in diplomatic or investigative endeavors; or it may simply require the Vizier provide advice regarding fae magic.
Organization
Viziers tend to be one to a freehold, and are expected to remain neutral, regardless of their own Court affiliation; when seasons change, the Vizier effectively keeps the same job. This may often lead to sovereigns distrusting or shutting out the Lailokin. On the other end, the changeling may find that every ruler not only accepts her, but also attempts to manipulate her against the other rulers. Those Viziers who do not remain neutral find the privileges of the entitlement torn from them, sending a wave of their previous madness washing over them again.

Prerequisites: At least twelve dots in various Contracts, Politics 3, Occult 3, Wyrd 7
Title: Vizier, Lailokin
As a changeling’s Wyrd grows, she is more liable to slip into madness, as the magic of Faerie infuses and infests her. When such a changeling begins to unintentionally harm those around her, the Lailokin come calling. Unlike many noble orders, invitations will continue to come for as long as is possible, so long as the potential entrant has not earned the enmity of the entire freehold.
Mien
Wyrd bleeds off of the Vizier in waves, often in a manner befitting of his personality: a frenetic Vizier may crackle with lightning, while a charitable one will shine with a halo of light.
Privileges
- The Eternal Advisor: For as long as she is bound as an advisor to the freehold, the Vizier will not age. She can still die, but time does not touch her. Upon leaving, all of those years will catch up to her; those who have served for long enough may well age into dust.
- Clarity of Duty: Viziers gain +5 bonus dice when making a roll to resist the manifestation of an existing derangement. Additionally, they gain +1 bonus dice to Clarity rolls made to resist gaining new derangements. Finally, they may ignore all major frailties. Upon leaving the order, a Vizier immediately and automatically loses a dot of Clarity.
- The Clausemaker’s Boon: Provided it aids in the performance of her duties, a Vizier may purchase clauses in a contract for the same price as a Merit (new dots × 2), regardless of affinity.
