Autourgic

Autourgic Deviants, also known as the Elect, are those who willingly underwent the Divergence. This Origin includes Deviants who sought out the Divergence for its own sake, to become something more than human, or to simply change their own lives.

Overview

The Elect sought out their Progenitors. They might have wanted the power to further a cause. They might have desired the enlightenment of a superhuman mind. Maybe they just wanted revenge, and the Divergence would let them take it. But all of them chose to be Remade.

Few Autourgics knew what they were getting into when they made the choice. They may not have known about the price of being Broken. They may have known but considered the benefits to outweigh the cost. Once they become Deviant, however, they have to live with the choice they made, and worse, they have to live with the fact that they chose it.

Going Renegade

For many Elect, the choice to be Remade was the last choice they would ever make. Conspiracies leap at the chance to obtain a Deviant that came to them willingly, and they are glad to manipulate the Elect into serving them. Most Autourgics remain Devoted, willing to endure the burden of their Scars for the sake of a higher existence. Others are tightly controlled by their Conspiracies, made to feel indebted to the people who gave them exactly what they asked for.

An Autourgic often turns Renegade (DTR) when she realizes the costs of Divergence far outweigh the benefits she received. Her aspirations don't match up with the reality of her situation, and whatever power she got out of it isn't worth being cursed, and it definitely isn't worth being controlled.

Origin Factor

Autourgics gain a Scar-free dot in an Overt Variation, representing their strong motivation toward the Divergence. They also gain an extra dot of Loyalty, often out of lingering feelings of obligation toward their Progenitors.
