Origin
A Deviant's Origin describes the nature of the Divergence and how the Remade feels toward it.
Overview
How the Deviant reacts to the Divergence is just as important as the process itself. If the Deviant is changed against her will, it can produce a much different result from one who underwent Divergence by choice.
Conspiracies are aware of the effect Origin has on the Divergence, and they have tried to control it for generations. Rather than force transformation on an unwilling host, a conspiracy might try to convince a victim to accept the Divergence, or to arrange "accidents" that leave the victim unaware of the conspiracy's involvement.
Origins
Five Origins are accepted by most conspiracies:
- Autourgic: The Elect, who sought out Divergence as their primary goal.
- Epimorph: The Volunteers, who agreed to be Remade out of necessity or empty promises.
- Exomorph: The Unwilling, who were forced into Divergence through kidnapping or threat.
- Genotypal: Deviants who were Born into their Divergence, whether it happened at birth or as they grew up.
- Pathological: The Accidents, who were Remade not by any intentional action, but by sheer happenstance.
